Manufacturing company Pan-Agra board member Martin Bartell, a decorated army veteran, is to be shown around house-hunting by Lawrenceton realtor Aida Teagarden, but she delegated the promising visit to perfect Anderton house to her daughter, librarian Aurora 'Roe' Teagarden, president of a real murders discussion club They stumble upon he corpse of Tanya Lee Greenhouse, another local real estate agent. There recently were more robbery crimes, and Roe notices a $500,00 estimated picture missing from the fine house. Amateur sleuth Roe refuses to be told off again as bothersome nosy sleuth by the police, as she fears her mother to be in danger, suspecting in a parallel investigation the victim's family, everyone involved in the real estate company staff and even Martin, yet he proves a perfect gentleman, suitor and sleuthing aid.
